troubleshooting
Hi! If you can't find the answer here it might be worth a quick look at the User Guide for Simple Holodecks or the User Guide for Production Holodecks. The Holodeck Group in-world is another resource; there's someone lurking there 24/7. After user error, the most common problems are issues relating to sim performance. We’ll do our best to help but sometimes it’s out of our hands.

Scene doesn’t appear when menu button is pressed
Some people accidentally put the box in the floor panel instead of the room. Some rooms come in boxes, some don't. If you have done this, take the box back into inventory, unpack then load the scene in the floor panel.
Sometimes people forget to edit the menu notecard in the wall panel and name the button. Do you get an error message on the floor panel saying 'Object was not found'? Usually this happens when the name of the crate does not exactly match the name in the menu. Check the floor panel to see exactly what the scene is called. The crate name is CASe SeNSiTiVE. It's possible that you need to change a capital letter somewhere. The format of the menu notecard is Button Text:Crate Name. There is no space after the colon.
Is it a scene you've just created? Did you get a green message in chat saying “position stored”. If not, check to see you’ve put the address script into the new crate.
If this is the first time you've made a scene in your Holodeck, it’s possible the address script or label scripts may still be unpacked in the box. Take the boxes back into inventory, open them and copy them to your inventory and go again.
Crate appears but the scene does not
The address script may have been put into an object instead of into the crate. Remove the address script and label scripts and re-make the scene.
Crate won't go away
If there's a crate sitting in the middle of the room and the Clear button won't get rid of it, it's because someone has pressed the New Crate button. Just right click the box and delete it.
Holodeck has disappeared
1. You may have selected the holodeck and re-named it
While building a scene: when selecting your objects to drag into your inventory you may have accidentally selected the holodeck as well. Test this by rezzing the object at the top of your Recent Items.
If it happened some time ago, use the Filters menu in your inventory to look for objects and rez any object that might have gone into a holodeck. When you select more than one object (as you do when making a scene) that object will be given the name of the last object you selected.
2. You may have put a label script into the holodeck itself
If you’ve did this, when you hit the Clear button, you cleared the Holodeck itself. This is known in the industry as Curtains.
Scene rezzes at wrong rotation
1. Perhaps the objects were not shift-selected
When the user takes all the objects into inventory they must be shift-selected as a single object
2. Are the wall and floor prim still linked?
If you’ve just installed a new wall panel you may not have re-linked the panels properly. Re-link them, making sure the floor panel is the last thing clicked before you link.
3. Check that the floor panel is the root prim
To check this, select a wall. You should be able to see the crates in the Contents tab. If you can't, something else is the root. Unlink the panels and re-link them, making the floor panel the last thing clicked before linking.
Rezzed objects shift around/jump around
Check that your Holodeck is not possessed by the devil
Possibly you have more than one label script in the object(s). This might not be because you put multiples in there; the Second Life Asset Server sometimes does it all for you. Check each object and delete any excess label scripts.
Can’t Edit Linked Parts
Check in the Tools menu. Sometimes SL decides to turn on “Select only my objects”. Untick that and you should be fine.
